Filing a My Number Card application at the machine
Some ID photo booths can submit your My Number Card application on the spot, with no separate website or envelope. 14,308 of the 22,369 locations we list are flagged for this in the operators' own data.
Prices vary by machine and location, and the price on the machine’s screen is final. What each operator publishes on its own website is collected on ID photo booth prices in Japan.
Locations flagged for direct application, by brand
- ID-Spot:324
- Ki-Re-i:6,318
- ID VOX:500
- Photo-Me:7,166
Counts are our tally of the flags in each operator's published list. The unit is locations. Definitions differ between operators, so the counts are not comparable across brands.
The flow at the machine, as Ki-Re-i publishes it
- Choose "My Number" on the Ki-Re-i home screen.
- Hold the QR code printed on your application form up to the reader.
- Tidy yourself up and shoot.
- Adjust the crop, check the details on screen, and submit.
- Take the confirmation printout. Done.
Ki-Re-i also states that people who received an expiry notice can apply using the QR code at its lower right, that no photo is needed when only renewing the electronic certificate, and that it recommends shooting at passport size. (Ki-Re-i official My Number Card page)
🔴 Applying by web or post: no background allowed
The same official page states that photos usable for the application are limited to no background. If you plan to apply online yourself, do not add a background colour at the machine. (Ki-Re-i official My Number Card page)
Finding a machine that can do it
Every prefecture page on this site can filter by "My Number application".

This page records what each operator publishes. We reproduce it; we are not the rule. Photo specifications are set by each issuing authority and do change.

An official list only shows that an operator says a booth is there — not that it is still working today. Check with the host store or station before you make a special trip.
